The New Zealand (Arturo in Maori language is called (meaning Land of Long White Cloudy); English: New Zealand) is an island nation in the southwest Pacific Ocean; approximately 1,500 kilometers south-east of Australia, across the Tasman Sea; and approximately 1,000 miles south of the Pacific island countries, namely New Caledonia, Fiji, and Tonga. The country consists of two large islands (the North Island and the South Island) and several other smaller islands. Because of its remoteness, The New Zealand is the last island inhabited by humans. During the long period of isolation, The New Zealand there developed a different biological diversity, be it plant or animal. The most famous is the large number of unique species of birds, many of which became extinct after the arrival of humans and mammals were taken as well. With a moderate maritime climate, The New Zealand mainland mostly covered by forest. The topography of the country is varied and mountain peaks are sharp heavily influenced by tectonic bulge of land and volcanic eruptions caused by the collision of the Pacific Plate and the In do-Australian plate beneath the earth's surface. The majority of the population of The New Zealand is a descendant of the nations of Europe; the indigenous Māori are the largest minority, followed by Asians and non-Māori Polynesians. English, Māori and The New Zealand Sign Language are the official languages, with English dominates. Most of New Zealand culture is derived from Māori and early settlers of British origin. The early European art was dominated by landscapes and portraits of Māori were more minimal levels. A new revival of Māori culture has led to their traditional arts such as carving / sculpture, weaving / weaving, and the art of the tattoo became more prominent. Many artists now combine Māori and techniques of the West to produce unique art form. The country's culture has also been broadened by globalization and to have increased immigration from the Pacific Islands and Asia.
