Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka (Sinhalese: ශ්රී ලංකා; Tamil: இலங்கை) is an island nation in the Indian Ocean in north coast of southeast India. Sri Lanka sea borders with India on the northwest, and the Maldives in the southwest. Until 1972, the country's international calling Ceylon.
